Default 04 pacifica making grinding noise.been to mechanic, help!!!

I have an 04 pacifica fwd, it started making a grinding noise in the front end. i first noticed it when turning the wheel, it also seems to get worse the hotter it gets outside. i've had it to my mechanic, whom i have used for ages and trust.. he can't find anything wrong. he greased the ball joints and said that my brakes, tie rods, ball joints etc are all good. Yet the noise is still there. Someone mentioned a similar problem in their pacifica and said it was some kind of pin in the tie rod, that it was shearing metal to metal. does that sound like it could be the problem? i'm no mechanic.. has anyone else had this? any help would be greatly appreciated. I just want to know my car is safe to drive with my kids in it... Thanks!

Check the shims that hold the sides of your brake pads in place on the caliper and see if they are close to the rotor. Had this issue and thats what I found. Some after market brake pad makers shims are too big. Its not the anti squeek shims but the ones on the sides of the pads, between the pad and caliper.
Hope this works for you.
