Default 06 Pacifica "Howls" when you accelerate

Can't figure this out -- when you accelerate at city speeds you get a deep "howling" sound. Almost like when you were young and took off your air cleaner. Deep moan type sound. Cannot replicate sitting still. Car does fine on the highway but around town it sounds bad. Dealer thought it was the motor mounts -- they likely were bad at 150,000 miles, but changing them did not change the noise.

Any help would be appreciated, just can't figure out what it is.

thanks

Could it be the exhaust system rubbing, like a heat shield or such?

Anything with the pcv or it's hoses? I had read something somewhere. . .

Thanks

check power steering fluid level and transmission fluid level? when those are low sometimes you can get a low tone. Or if you have air in your power steering system

Thanks,

Haven't checked the power steering yet, but I will tonight.
Doesn't seem tied to any turning though, just acceleration.

Also, it seems like there is a loss of power (from normal) during the acceleration as well.

thanks

In that case could have a vacuum leak or maybe a leak from the air cleaner to the throttle body. If you are throwing a check engine light, and it says it's running lean, most probably a leak

I like the idea of a vacuum leak, that would fit the power loss.

I was thinking about the pcv or it's hose, but hadn't thought about any other line.

thanks

Is the sound near the throttle body? The throttle plate and bore may become coated with contaminates from the intake system and the gasket may have failed. If the throttle body plate and bore are coated with contaminates, give it a good cleaning with some Mopar Throttle Body Cleaner (Part #04897156AA) and replace the seal - gasket.

Throttle Body Seal - (3.3/3.8/3.5 w / Plastic Intake Manifold) part #04781579AA

Gasket - Throttle Body Gasket (3.8 w / Aluminum Intake Manifold) = part #04861262AA

Injectors and throttle assembly were previously addressed, so they are good.

Thanks.

Planning on taking it back to the dealer, since the 1600 repair did not correct the main symptom. I'm sure it needed motor mounts and fans, but the noise is still there and that's what we took it in for.

thanks for the input.
