Default 2007 Pacifica

As the new owner of a 2007 Pacifica with the 4.0L engine I have been unable to find an engine block heater. The dealership says there are none available even though my manual states that use of an engine block heater is recommended for cold climates and to check with the dealer for installation. Anyone heard of this or have one installed?

I would say you were dealing with a lazy or inexperienced parts person. The 4.0L has an available block heater as do ALL Chrysler cars.

S. Hunter and Jamie, do you have a parts number? Was your heaters installed after market or come installed on the vehicle?

Mine was a factory installed block heater. I will see if I can get a part number on Monday.

Thanks Jamie. I'll check with the local dealer parts department. Will let you know the outcome.

Well Jamie I had them check the parts number and sure enough there is a "replacement" element for the block heater for $49.95. Then one must buy the cord for $57, and pay for about $150 labor to install. What a joke. [:-][:'(]

I thought that part # was for a block heater kit. [heater and cord] Which is always cheaper then the cord and heater. Might not be available for the Pac. The labour should be less then 1hr. ,as the coolant does not have to drained and a core plug does not have to be removed. The heater goes into a precast pocket in the block. I personally have not used a block heater in about 10 years. I park in my garage at home. Even on the coldest nights of -35C[-31F] my garage is only about -5C[23F]. At work I do not have access to a plug in and have never had a problem starting my cars even after 9 hours of sitting.
