2007 Pacifica Rumbles, Shutters, Let's Go
Love my 2007 AWD Pacifica Limited even though it is very thirsty at 18 MPG. However, very early on with under 2000 miles the car showed major problems that the dealer and technicians have not been able to duplicate or fix.At least a dozen times at day at varing speeds and regardless of engine temperature the vehicle shutters, rumbles as if it is going over rumble strips and gives away / lets go when braking. I am very frustrated with the dealer service center as they claim they find nothing wrong. I am concerned the vehicle will have a major failure while driving and cause an accident. Any one have any ideas, similar experiences or recommendations?

SYMPTOM/CONDITION:
The vehicle operator may experience one or more of the following symptoms:
1. Transmission Shudder - 42RLE All, 41TE CS/JS, 62TE CS/JS
a. This condition can only occur after the vehicle has been driven and the torque
convertor is past the break in period. Torque Converter break in can be confirmed
with the StarSCAN®.
b. If experienced, the shudder may occur when the transmission temperature is
between 38° C and 54° C (100° F and 130° F) during steady state driving with the
torque convertor in partial lock (EMCC) operation. The shudder feels like the vehicle
is being driven over rumble strips.
2. Torque Converter Pull In Bump - 41TE JS, 62TE CS/JS
a. This condition can occur due to abrupt torque converter clutch engagement during
EMCC initialization.
3. DTC P0732 - Gear Ratio Error in 2nd Gear - 62TE CS
a. The MIL may or may not be lit (2 trip fault).
b. Limp In will occur when this fault is set.
c. This is an intermittent condition and cannot be duplicated. If the fault can be
duplicated, other conditions exist and further investigation will be required.
4. Shift Quality Improvements - 62TE CS
a. Rapid Decel Coastdown Stumble.
b. Low Speed 3-2 Kickdown Harshness.
c. 4-5 and/or 5-6 upshift flare bump.

RE: 2007 Pacifica Rumbles, Shutters, Let's Go
I have an 04 Pacifica that I'm happy with but it has a few miles on it now. I test drove an 07 with a 4 litre and 6 speed trans.
I did notice the new drive train drove completely different. It was much quicker but not as smooth. On a brand new Pacifica that had not been broken in the trans was rough figuring out what gear to be in when going up and down hills at 45mph. I'm used to any brand of car with lots of automatic gears having the same problem except Mercedes. Mercedes are like silk regardless but cost twice as much.
I'm not a mechanic but I would wonder if a little indecision about gear shifts will be inherit in most any 6 speed automatic. At least in cars that cost less than $60,000.

RE: 2007 Pacifica Rumbles, Shutters, Let's Go
I had the same problem. Bought my '07 in January, had the torque converter replaced in March. That cured the major shuttering and grinding. Only problem now is the engiine surges under light throttle. I can't tell if its an engine problem of if the tranny is indecisive. I'm living with it for now. I'm getting great mileage... 21+ suburban and 27+ on the highway at 70 mph.
