Default 2008 Pacifica stuck in Park

My Pacifica got stuck in park yesterday. I have tried popping up the chrome trim plate around the shifter and pushed down on the Pink release switch, but I am unable to get it out of park.

Is there anything else I can try or do I need to get a mechanic?

I found a Chrysler recall for a similar issue on the Chrysler 300, bout not on the Pacifica. Have others been able to get this issue fixed by Chrysler under a recall?

Thanks

Hi anamika,

You can enter your VIN here to view any recalls on your vehicle: https://www.mopar.com/en-us/my-vehicle/recalls.html. If you decide to visit your local dealership for further diagnosis I'd be happy to offer assistance if needed, just PM our page with your VIN and let me know!

Update: Checked the VIN, there was no recall. Talked to the dealer, they wouldn't help either. Had the gear assembly replaced by another local shop and the problem was fixed. Not happy with Chrysler and its dealership network.

if the recall does not apply then there is nothing any one is obligated to do you have a 9 year old car it will have issues.

If it uses the same shifter assembly as the Chrysler 300 / Dodge Charger, they should have covered it under the recall.

never said it was the same shifter I said it was the same kind as the 300 where a spring breaks. and take it up with the NTSA for what cars are and are not recalled.
