ac issue
ac compressor went bad, so i replaced it, now i can not get it to take a charge, the compressor will not engage, i have power to the relay tried to jump it at the relay and nothing. If it was not so darn hard to get the plug on the compressor i would check for power there. Any help would be appreciated. maybe the presser switch went out? i dont know how to jump it at the switch. Hope its not the new compressor.

I'm not a pro. I have, in the past - mostly pre-R134- if I had done A/C component replacement, taken the car to a shop for the freon charge. First, they have to vacuum the system down to remove any air, then check to see it holds the vaccuum - no leaks- and then they charge it accurately by weight of freon. As I understand it, they begin to charge the freon into the vacuumed system and when the pressure is positive enough to close the pressure switch the compressor should start to cycle.
Whether you take it in or not you need to vacuum the system down. I did not have the pump for that and would hence take it in. The other thing that I think is very critical, especially with R134A is an accurate charge, not low and not high and a professional system can accurately meter the correct weight charge.
Just a shade tree mech's opinion. Good luck and let us know.
