Question Advice needed on my '07 Please...

I have an '07 Touring 4.0L with 6 speed tranny. So far, I haven't had any issues, however recently I've been noticing the transmission is shifting hard into 3rd gear. It's most noticeable when climbing over a hill or when I accelerate fast. On downhill or flat surfaces it's not that noticeable.

It's more of a clunk into gear, rather than a smooth shift. I only have 30,000 miles on this car and so far have been lucky. I know there are TC issues with this model year -- any advice ??

I'm reluctant to have the dealership do anything with the TC since I've seen posts on here that indicated the problem got worse after doing this..

Thanks

On your next oil change at the dealer have them check the motor mounts.

the 07 models were made with the lower end transmissions so you tend to feel a jolt or a hesitation when accelerating which is why they put a transmission with a higher gear count and ratio on the 08 models. Have the dealers drive it around for a little bit. I have a feeling its the normal jolt / hard shift. hard to tell without being the person in the car.

Took my Pac into the dealer today for an oil change and had them inspect the motor mounts while it's on the lift due to a clunking sound when accelerating. They told me the front motor mount was leaking fluid and the rear was not leaking but was sloppy. I had them replace both motor mounts for $547 and the noise went away. The Pac drives like new again. It was money well spent. I didn't tell the dealer anything about the clunking noise. I simply said for them to inspect the motor mounts. I am leery when you start having the dealer diagnose a driveline noise. You'll have the whole thing replaced by the time they get to the real problem. I studied up on this forum and was pretty much convinced based on my reading that the motor mounts were the culprit and in my case I was right.

Thanks for the feedback. I think my issue may also be with bad motor mounts. Until this week, I hadn't any problems with the clunking during gear shifts. It only happens when upshifting into 3rd gear and then only when doing a hard acceleration or climbing a hill. Other than that no issues with the transmission.
