Default Air Conditioning Filter

In the Owners Manual on the 2007 Pacifica it calls for the Air Conditioning Filter to be changed every 12,000 miles. Thecost at the dealeris $52.[sm=noooo.gif] and at the parts store is $ 32.[sm=signs006.gif][sm=signs006.gif] Can this filter be cleaned by blowning it with an air hose?[sm=goodidea.gif]????

DESCRIPTION

Some models are equipped with a particulate air filter (1) that helps purify the outside air entering the HVAC housing. The filter is mounted in the HVAC housing, behind the glove box.
The particulate air filter element is the same size as the A/C evaporator to ensure ample filtering capacity. A removable door on the HVAC housing provides easy access to the particulate air filter element for replacement.
The filter should be replaced at least once a year or every 24,000 km (15,000 miles) and checked if heating-A/C system performance seems lower than expected. The particulate air filter is labeled with an arrow (2) to indicate the direction of air flow through the filter.

how to.......
REMOVAL

1.
Locate the particulate air filter door (1) on the bottom of the HVAC housing (4) near the glove box area.

2.
Slide the air filter door latch (2) from the closed stop (3) toward the rear of the vehicle until it contacts the open stop (5).

3.
Pull the air filter door straight downward to disengage it from the HVAC housing.

4.
Reach through the opening of the HVAC housing and pull the particulate air filter element straight downward and out of the HVAC housing.

You can always take your favorite furnace filter and cut it to fit. You could get 3 filter from that. I personally have not done that,as I'm not that cheap.[sm=smiley2.gif]

I would think you could just remove the filter altogether & run the system without it.
