Default Is Chrysler OEM timing belt made by Gates?

I thought I remembered reading somewhere that the Chrysler timing belt was manufactured by Gates.

I found this one on eBay, and it is considerably cheaper than the $610 I was quoted for PARTS ONLY from the local Chrysler dealer!

GATES TCKWP295A Engine Timing Belt Kit w/ Water Pump | eBay

Has anyone else purchased something like this to do their timing belt on their Pac?

I have put Gates timing belt and auto tensioner in my Pac. I have also put Gates Serpentine belt, tensioner and Gates alternator pulley. All of these has worked ok.

However I would not buy such a part from ebay. I'd rather check RockAuto or PartsGeek.

I had the work quoted at my dealer, I'd have to find it again, but with 6 hours of labour and around 1000$ total, it would make their belt + water pump worth around 350$. And yes you can find a kit (belt+tensioner+pump) on the internet for under 200$.

I think your dealer is a scuzz.
