Default Gas pedal Resistance

Hi, new here, did a search here yesterday and got my answer as to why the gas pedal on my 05 Pacifica sticks when trying to depress it. Anyway, why is there carbon build up in the throttle body housing? I thought on air was passing through there. Is there anyway I can prevent this from happening again? Add some type of fuel cleaner?

Thanks Bill

carbon is a by product of gas fumes. clean the throttle body every 30k and U will be fine. Its a service that most dealer offer.

Is there anything I can add to the fuel to prevent this from happening or do I need to go into the throttle body and clean it like I did on Monday?
Thanks Bill

When mine sticks I just take off the air box cover and the throttle body inlet whic lets you see the butterfly valve. Then I just soak it down with a little seafoam and let it sit for about 10 mins and use some paper towels to wipe it clean, just make sure you open the vale to clean behind it and you are good for a while.
