This is the second occurrence of this particular problem. Intermittently, when I shut off the ignition, the key won't turn to restart the car. Occasionally it will operate again after several tries, but a few months ago it locked up in the Disney World parking lot and cost me $750 to have the ignition switch and the "ignition housing" replaced. That seemed to resolve the problem for that time, but it reappeared yesterday at a refueling stop. When this happens, the steering is locked, and the trans. remains locked in Park. Not good! Luckily, after several attempts, I was able to get the key to turn and drive off, but now I'm really gun-shy that this is going to fail completely again. Has anybody else experienced this, and what was the ultimate fix? Also, is there some emergency procedure I can employ to temporarily unlock it if, and when, it happens again? Thanks in advance.
