2001 T&C ignition key won't turn
My 2001 T&C ignition key won't turn.
1, I tried another key but it also didn't work.
2. I read the postings already made and none of the suggestions worked.
3. I am waiting for it to throw a rod and am using it only for short driving around town.
3. A charitable organization has agreed to tow it away when it dies. They have inspected it and are very pleased with everything except the engine. They plan to put in a new engine, not auction it off. Because of this, I don't want to spend money for a new ignition switch.
Is there a quick and dirty way to jumper around the ignition switch or otherwise be able to use it without paying for a repair? With 180,000 miles on it and expecting only a few thousand more, I am reluctant to spend anything of significance.
Alternatively, any chance one of your dealers (Minneapolis St. Paul area) would be willing to fix it at low cost if I sign a commitment that it's going to a charity within 6 months?
Thanks

You don't actually need to replace the key or cylinder.
When you finaly get the key to turn by hitting the end of the key while applying pressure you can get the cylinder out of its housing,
insert the key and you will see a small square brass locking pin will be sitting proud of the housing (this is the fault) simply file off the protrusion until its flush with the housing again.
Job Done.!
