No MP3 Support
Its crazy that chrysler would not have had mp3 support at least included on the cd/dvd changers specs or specify to the vendors to include a way to FLASH/UPDATE the firmware via a cd or dvd.
Everone who owns a '04-'08 Pac knows this well, theres few aftermarket options that work well. FM modulators suck as well as using a cassette adapter.
I did the aux jack mod (splice between the head unit and cd/dvd changer). It works if you have the cd/dvd changer option in your pac. As it works great EXCEPT when you connect the car charger to your playback device (phone or audio player), when connected the whining alternator and electrical system noise is heard!
A double-din head unit would e the best solution but will not fit/work without alot of modding and replacing the amp and running new wires and adding a module to keep the steering wheel controls.
Newer MyGig head units would be a great solution since they have mp3 support, but are NOT compatible with the pacs due system data bus speeds. (pac has low speed bus, MyGig is high speed bus) and no one has developed a bus adapter to allow the MyGig to work.
One thought I had was IS it possible to use a MyGig, compatible amp and BCM as "stand-alone" on there own separate comm wire? Thus they would have there own high speed data bus separate from the pac's low speed system. Only a few connections to the separate BCM would be required.
Also CAN the high speed and low speed bus communication be run on the same comm wire?
Did the 2008 have MP3 Support? I didn't think so but wasn't 100% sure
The factory system sounds ok but in order to get any decent volume the playback device AND head unit has to be literally maxed out.
I have the factory svc manual so wiring diagrams are not an issue.
Frustrated and still looking for the best solution.
