Exclamation Pacifica accelerating on its own

We have an '06 Pacifica touring and all of a sudden it began to accelerate on its own. When in park, a wave of sound comes from the engine as if it is constantly being revved. When in drive and the brake is being held (like at a stop sign/light, etc.) the speedometer begins to accelerate and decelerate on its own, as if we are in park and revving the engine. If we let go of the break it tries to take off on its own. This is very dangerous and we can't seem to find if this was a recall. Also note, cruise control is not activated. My father thought that I was maybe being silly and had it on and thought that was the problem - but it's not! I have been searching around and can't seem to find anyone with the same problem. Help anyone?

Log into this forum and as I remember search for "Speed Sensors" to see if others had the same problem as you two. *BW*

Default 2005 chry pacifica

My pacifica was doing the same thing. It tookd the dealer nearly 3 weeks to figure it out .. and it looks like it's fixed.

First -- they said it was the 'throttle suspension system" - replaced... (Still did the same exact thing)
Next-- they decided it was the PCM/TCM -- the computer -- and (a week's delay because they ordered a rear wheel drive one, and mine is front wheel drive)- STILL did it .. within hours of them returning the vehicle!
FINALLY .. after taking it back again, AND my paying over 700.00 for rentals .. they decided it was the alternator... replaced and finally fixed.

I paid $1675.00.. but 1350 was for the initial charge - and they only "charged me half" for the computer, nothing for the labor on that, and NO charge for the alternator, since alot of the screwups were their fault.
(Plus they put me in a rental for a week) ..

On a scale of 1-10 satisfaction .. maybe a 7

Default 07 Chrysler Pacifica accelerating on its own

Was driving my 07 Pacific on the highway today. As I was trying to merge into a lane, the car lunged forward, engine revving, accelerating on its own. As if it were on cruise control. It was not on cruise control. Went from 50 to 60 Miles per hour while I was slamming on the brakes. It was a very jerky because of the accelerating while trying to brake combination. I'm so glad there wasn't anyone directly in front of me. The whole episode only lasted a few seconds, was still enough to terrify me. Of course I have to take it in. What could the problem be?

Default Fixes??

My wife's Pacifica is doing this exact thing. Did anyone else find a solution other than the alternator?

Hi 11A,

Sorry to hear about this! If you decide to visit your local dealership I'd be happy to follow up with them for you if needed. Just PM our page with your VIN and let me know.
