Default Radio/Bluetooth/UConnect

We have an 08 with an "REV" radio. However it only has the dimming rear view. It does have the plug on the back and from everything I have read, the REV radio is Bluetooth capable.
So my question is, if I were to purchase a U-Connect mirror such as:
2004 2005 2006 2007 2008 Chrysler Pacifica Rear View Mirror Uconnect Autodim | eBay
Is it plug and play? Or is something else needed?
Anyone have experience with this?

I can't be 100% sure on the Pacifica as I have the Aspen, but when I went to research the option of adding U-connect to my radio (which even has the U-Connect buttons on the radio but does not have the module apparently), I found that simply getting the devices needed and connecting them wasn't enough to make it work. You had to take it in to a dealer to have the radio reprogrammed for that feature. No telling how much that would be. Hopefully others will chime in here if I'm wrong, but I would definitely hold off until you get all the info to be sure.

Yep, I was afraid of that. That is why I'm asking. Hoping someone here has tried it.

Our '05 Limited had it. It was so/so for phone calls. A good visor mounted bluetooth speaker is better and far cheaper. Don't know if things had improved significantly by '08.

I know this thread is old but Hopefully someone can answer. I have an 04 Pacifica. It doesn't have the Uconnect but does have the AM/FM CD/DVD Tape combo. Now the question is, Is that all one big unit or are they separate units? I want to replace the radio with a BT capable system but I want to hopefully keep the DVD system because of the flip down monitor built in above the backseats. Any suggestions on brand or model of radio to look and buy would be helpful also.

Thanks for reading.

I can't suggest another radio as I am not up on the latest models. However as I recall from our Pacifica, I believe the DVD unit was separate from the head unit. Mine never worked properly and frankly didn't use it much but I can see how with kits in the back it would be great. Replacing the head unit I would think would void the input of the DVD. My suggestion there would be to look for a infotainment system that includes video and use thumb drives for movies etc. You'd have to tap into the video feed for the drop down screen but I'm sure it could be done. My $.02 anyway.

Thank you, I'll look into it. I may just take it to a professional installer and let them deal with it.
