Exclamation Radio/temperature Count-down timer?!?!

OK, this morning I encountered something new… I have an idea of what it is, and why it came up, but need confirmation.

This morning, I started my car as usual (with my factory remote starter, temp in Winnipeg last night got to a low of around -15C. We've had colder temps then that for the past 10 days, no problems observed... Car was plugged in, and the car’s radio was off (I turn it off while parking in my garage). Car started with no problem. When I got into the car, about 20 or 30 seconds after starting her up, I noticed something I hadn’t seem before and it made me both laugh and made me a bit worried!

On the radio’s display where the outside temperature is normally displayed (along with the usual radio info), the screen went blank and said “DELAY 1:36” and was counting down (I assume it started at the 2 minute mark based on when I started the car remotely and then got in it)!! Then it displayed the outside temp, then back to the “DELAY 1:31” and did this a few times.

At first I thought it was a warning for a “hidden” ejector seat option that I didn’t know came with the PAC and was about to go off because I forgot to say a hidden/forgotten password or something!! Not sure what is was or what to do other than wait, so I dutifully waited before putting the car in gear and backing out of my garage. However, the “Warning” went away altogether before it had even counted down to 1:10 mark. Just a bit freaky….

My question is: What the heck was this “DELAY X:XX” timer for/doing?

Now, this is where I think I know what this timer may be for...

I DID leave one interior light on (the driver-side over head map light). Could this have drained the battery down enough for the PAC's Computer to become "concerned"? Did the timer came on with the idea that the PAC wanted that time to re-charge the battery before "hitting the road"? If that is the case, this is one smart car!!

Cheers!!

I think you will find it was the heat delay. Your automatic climate control waits for the coolant temp, and consequently the heater core to reach a specied temperature before the fan begins to circulate air. No use blowing cold air on your feet.
