Default RCA jacks on dvd player

My wife's '04 with the factory dvd/cd changer has RCA jacks on the front, does anyone know for certain if they can they be used with a Y-adapter to play an iPod or are they strictly outputs?

Inputs actually. You can run your iPod from a 1/8" headphone to rca adapter. On the "mode" selector choose aux and then be patient. My '05 usually takes 20-30 seconds to recognize the input once I hook up the iPod. You can also use those inputs to connect a game system and then the video will play over the built in screen (if equipped) and the audio can be played through the wireless headphones, while retaining independent front audio.

Thanks, I assumed so but didn't want to waste the time and money if it wouldn't work. I ordered the cables from Crutchfield along with some other stuff I needed.
