my wife took the 04 pac to the quick lube today, and they told her the rear diff was driping. Is this hard to fix?
Also we have a clunk noise from the pass side when going over bumps. i hear the control arm busings fail, is this true? Is it hard to fix this problem?


its an 04 awd pack. with 50k

 

is it the pinion seal leaking ? the control arms are a problem on the pacs you will need to replace the complete control arm unless you are real handy i would take it to a good repair shop there is a tsb on the front end on your car

 

not sure on the rear, untill i take it to my work garage. Whats a tsb? Is it a recall? I didnt buy the car new.

A TSB (Technical Service Bulletin) is one step short of a recall, meaning it is a manufacturer's acknowledgment of a known/common problem and it tells the mechanics the best way to fix it. But the consumer is fully responsible for payment, unlike a federally-issued recall that is covered by the manufacturer. Recalls are generally only for safety issues, like brakes/airbags/fuel system and stuff like that where there are documented cases of people being seriously injured or killed because of a manufacturer defect. Sad but true. You can always check for recalls of any year/make/model vehicle by going to NHTSA.gov and clicking on "Vehicles and Equipment" then follow the appropriate links.
