Default rim size

can anyone tell me if i might be able to change out the 19" rims on my 05 touring car for 17" rims? seems the 19" tires are quite a bit more in price but 17" tires are quite a few bucks cheaper. discount tire today show 19" at 133.00 60k and 17" at 96 each at 80k so i may be able to find rims at the yard and mount tires on them cheaper than getting new 19" tires. and then next go around all i need is tires. thanks.

19" chrome clad aluminum rims were optional on the 2005 Touring, 17" aluminum rims were standard. Have 17" rims on my own w/ OEM sized 235-65-17 tires.
Should be able to change them right out.

i asked the local junk yard and that guy said he has a pacifica and he tried it and it would not work becasue the rotors and calipers are to large. but you think it should so maybe some others will be able to put more info on this. maybe he had a different model i have the touring model and i see on discount tire they offer 2 sizes for that model. that is why i asked to see if more have tried it and say yes. the junk yard guy may be trying to just sell me rims he has in stock also. thanks

The junk yard guy is trying to sell what he has in the warehouse. 2005 Pac's all used the same disks and pads, no variation in diameter.

thanks i was wondering as discount tire shows both sizes for this car. and the 19" was stated as optional. in my experience the optional size meant nothing but just another kind of equipment. i would think that if the 17" would not have fit then they would not have shown it for a choice. the junkyard guy later told me he tried to put the 17" on his car and the calipers got in the way but if the car takes the same pads and rotors seems the calipsers would not make a difference plus the calipers are the same being they show one caliper and say it is for 04 to 08. so i will look for rims for the pacifica in 17" and then get tires on them the tires are 50 or more cheaper and seems they are more of them around. might be why they are cheaper.

got this at a local yard:

as you can see, it fits fine in the spare space underneath
my guess is it came from an '01-'02 Grand Cherokee, but it wasn't mounted on any vehicle when we found it
tested fit on a Pacifica at the yard and bolt pattern & center bore matched up and it seemed to adequately clear the calipers

from my research, 17" rims from the following will match fit for '04-'08 Pacificas:
'08 Town&Country/Voyager/Caravan
'06-'08 Jeep Commander 2WD, 4WD
'99'-08 Jeep Grand Cherokee 2WD 4WD, SRT8 4WD
'07-'08 Wrangler 2 & 4WD, Sahara, Rubicon

there are several other MoPar applications that will fit, but you can't go smaller than a 17" rim to clear the calipers and you will need hub centric rings for proper fit if the center bore is larger than the stock 71.5 mm
