There is a way to shut down MOST of the ding ding ding. I have a 2007 touring and there is a section in the owners manual that gives instructions on how to do it. I was successful to the extent that it now dings only once when I initially start the engine. The red seat belt warning light stays on but it no longer dings periodically if I don't snap the seat belt. I do wear the belt when I'm going more than just to the post office or the gym which are both less than a mile from home but I resent the government mandating an annoyance.
