Default thinking about buying a 2007 pacifica

have a chance to get a 07 pacifica 3.8l 115k miles for $5000 through work. But I have read about some problems with the torque convertor. Can't hardly turn down the price though. would like to hear from other owners. I already have a 06 that has been good.

thanks indept, I was wondering about that, I knew there were 2 different transmissions used, and have had no problems with my 06 pac. I didn't know which one was the problem one.

No problem. I have an 07 with the 4.0l & 6spd. Just went over 30000 miles with no torque / tranny problems. I did take it to the dealer a week before my 3 year warranty expired because I saw oil leaking from the front crank seal and also what I thought was an engine oil cooler hose seeping. They confirmed the oil seal leak, but said the oil hose was ok. They said that was antifreeze from the water pump. They replaced both the seal & pump under warranty. We love this car, the ride is good, fuel economy is good & lots of nice features.

Is it a 3.8? i thought they used the 3.5, which should have a timing belt around 100 k.

Also on the short list for the next car!

I'm pretty sure gbeach is correct, in '07 they had either the 3.8 which is a timing chain or the 4.0 which is a belt.
