Chrysler PT CruiserOffering a sedan and 2 door convertible, both of which offer a naturally aspirated or turbocharged engine, this car has something to offer everyone
I'll try this once more;
2006 PT GT runs great;
Yesterday, warming up in driveway, idling fine, then engine stumbles for a second and shuts off. Turn key to restart, no crank. EVERYTHING else works fine. Power to everything, fuel pump, windows, radio, instruments, everything, just no crank.
New battery,
New ign. switch,
Starter tested,
NO codes,
NO CEL.
NOW, I just walked out there, stuck the key in the ign, turned key, cranked right up and runs fine.
This tells me that something that controls running and cranking is failing when the car warms up.
This scenario began about 2 months ago. Prior to that no issues at all.
Come on Guys and Gal techs, I'm counting on you all! I need my Blue Pete back on the road. He's only got 70 K on him!
1. Check for voltage at terminal 86 of the starter relay, with the key in the start position. Has power to terminal 86 at the starter relay. Check for ground on terminal 85 of the starter relay. Pin 30 is battery voltage and 87 on to the starter solenoid.
2. Jumper C3 pin 38 at the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) to C4 pin 27. If the starter cranks now, the PCM is bad.
**** Vehicles equipped with a Sentry Key Immobilizer (SKIM) may disable the starter if the proper key is not used ****
