Unhappy Battery Warning Light

The battery warning light comes on when driving and occasionally at start. It usually resets after engine is turned off & restarted. The alternator maintains a 14.2 V charge on the battery when the battery warning light is on.

Is there a known common short in the PT Cruisers electrical system?

I've also read on several forums that the ECM could be the culprit.

Before replacing the ECM would it be worth a try to re-flash my existing ECM?
or Chrysler TSB # 18-007-07. PCM software flashes?

Since the weather warmed up the Battery indicator light has not come on.

The last 2 days when attempting to start the PT there is just a click and removing the key for a few seconds and making a second attempt the starter engages like no problem occurred.

I'm suspecting a wiring problem in the steering column.

Anyone have a suggestion what should be looked at first???

Initially it was a loose battery cable clamp. Once that was resolved the alternator gave out.

Since both have been addressed no further problems.
