Default Transmission Pan Gasket

Looking for tips on how to replace the transmission pan gasket on my 2001 PT.

The car has been on ramps for 48 hours, yet there is still a small stream of fluid that will begin to run down the side and right onto the bottom where the pan flange meets, so almost impossible not to get fluid on the RTV at some point during the curing process. I can wipe it off, but within 10 to 15 minutes, its already streaming down again.

The instructions say you should let it cure for an hour at finger tight before torqueing down to 165 in-lb, but that is too long before fluid will start showing up again.

Should I just go to torque right away? or is there a way to get more of the fluid out to prevent this?

Use the gasket that comes in the kit and NO RTV. Clean ALL RTV from the pan and trans surface, scuff with a scotch brite pad, install all bolts seated +1/4 turn and enjoy a leak free trans.
As long as the pan flanges are straight and not bent/warped/gouged from past services.

The gaskets will leak the rtv they supply will leak. Use this stuff or get the same from a dealer. this stuff was designed for the 41te pans that had an issue sealing them up with the drippings of fluid on the 45 degree sealing surface. This stuff is anaerobic does not need air to cure seals instantly.

Default Trans gasket

So the mopar Rtv doesn’t need air to cure? Should i torque to spec right after i put it on or wait a few hours.

I wound up using the Permatex Ultra Black and followed the directions. Apply, immediately assemble to finger tight, then torque after an hour.
Funny thing is, the pan was never my leak.
We kept losing power steering fluid, so I added UV dye to it (game changer.)
Sure enough, the fluid was collecting right at the pan giving the appearance that the trans was leaking. Same fluid.

NO need to wait for anything with the mopar stuff slap it on bolt up and away you go.

I would contact monster transmission guys, they can definitely help.
Their reviews on this website https://monster-transmission.pissedc...om/review.html are not that awesome, but there is a good reason behind that.
Happy customers don't waste their time on writing reviews, only those who are not happy with something will let the business know about it.
