Default 06 T&C Touring and Towing

I have a 2006 Touring and want to tow a 3500lbs rated trailer

The dealer said I just need sway control and I'm good for 3500lbs/300lbs TW, otherwise only 1800lbs

Is this true?

Does this comne with the tranny cooler as std, even without a tow package? I am fitting a Draw-tite hitch.

Thanks

I am note sure you should go by what the dealer says. If you don't get any responses here, you might want to do a search on "chrysler minivan fan club forums" they have a towing section. If you are going to tow at max weight permitted, I would use a weight distributing hitch (the Equalizer is a good one), make sure you have trailer brakes, and a good tranny cooler. The cooler might be include if you have the towing prep group and the dealer should be able to tell you by the VIN if you have towing dprep group. Even then, I would find out from others if the stock towing cooler is sufficient. Lastly, have you read what your manual says about towing?

Also.. forums like RV.net and irv2.com have towing sections that might have info on towing w/ minivans

Sorry I can't be much help, I do a lot of towing but with much bigger equipment.

I see tubes from the trannie to the cooling pack. Does the T&C Touring get a trannie cooler as std, even w/o the towing package?

My 04 had a tranny cooler but I did not have a tow package. You can see in if you look thru the grill on the RHS. I know this because the clamps on mine were leaking and the dealer had to install screw type clamps.

oh... and one more thing... with the factory tow comes the heavy duty nim self adj shocks.... which i had to replace at 150k... big beefy shocks that will actually pump up and raise vehicle when loaded... think about that ... dont want rear of van sagging too much even tho u may have enough power
