2005 2.8 CRD Grand Voyager
Hi,
Just noticed a thumping noise when I pull on the handbrake. lever also gives a small jerk.
I have pulled and released the lever a few times and it seems to fave fixed itself. Self adjusting mechanism?
I need to get a good look at it because the hand brake has never been good, it only just passes the MOT, but its always been that way from new. I think it did have a recall on the handbrake at about a year old.
Just wondered if anyone had come across a similar problem or had any pointers.
Thanks

Hi,
I had the exact same problem on my 2003 2.5 crd Grand Voyager. I presume they would be very similar. If so, whilst the rear brakes are disc brakes the actual handbrake works off of small drum brakes in the drum of the disc (hope this makes sense). You need to take off the wheel and then the drum. You will see inside the two small drum brakes. With a flat ended screwdriver you need to adjust the brakes out so that it is fairly tight to put the drum back on. Then replace the wheel and when you have done that on both sides the handbrake should be adjusted out.
Hope this is of some help.
Cheers
