Default 2.8crd Grand Voyager UK fuel/start problem

Hi all, I have had 2.8crd grand voyager for about a month now and have noticed a few problems and was wondering if anyone could help?

1) On startup there seems to be exhaust smoke coming out from under the vehicle at the front between the drivers door and the engine bay (and no, its not the cabin pre-heater, I know where that is, and besides the heating was off)
2) On cold startup if i don't wait a minute or 2 when I drive off acceleration is lumpy and sluggish
3) Really really bad fuel economy (locally average 15.2mpg, and went on a 30 mile round trip and it only increased to 16.8)
Any advise please?
Thanks
Alan

initial thoughts would be injectors. Though with the white smoke you may have a fuel leak, with fuel dripping onto something.

First things to check is to get underneath and see where the smoke is coming from and have a look for damp patches around the engine bay.

Regards

How many miles has your grand voyager done?? The book recommends servicing the injectors every 100,000 miles. It does sound like injector issues as Richard stated before.
Regarding the exhaust smoke you could have a leak in the exhaust pipe or at the exhaust manifold??

hi,
I had the egr pipe fracture on my voyager ,the pipe goes from the egr valve ound the back of the engine to the exhaust manifold,if you put your head down behind the battery area and get some one to start the car ,you should be able to see the leak if its that.
I sourced mine from a vm parts specialist down in London ,which was a lot cheaper than going through the dealer.
get the injectors removed and sent for test at a bosch or Delphi service centre.
