2000 Town & Country Serpentine belt
My 2000 Town and Country left me stranded. Alternator and fuel pump have been replaced in last 3 months and I thought the Alt. had gone out again. Husband checked and said the serpentine belt was frayed on one side and had come off the pulleys. We replaced it and I didn't event get five miles before it not only jumped the pulley, but shredded/cut the opposite side of the belt. Hubby checked the pulleys for burrs and found none and turned each one manually. Tensioner seems fine. Now he's just scratching his head. We are new to the forum scene and could use any help. This is our only vehicle. Otherwise, it's a long walk to work (like 34 miles long)
Thanks!!
Thanks!!

The routing of the serpentine belt is extremely important. If routed incorrectly it will jump off the pulleys. The alternator may not have been installed correctly. All the pulleys need to be in perfect alignment with one another otherwise sooner or later it will wear on the belt and/or make it come off. My first guess is that the belt may have been routed incorrectly. Best of luck.

I had constant problems with the serpentine belt on my Voyager. Even the Chrysler dealership mechanic admitted it is a "chronic and incurable problem". It would slip off when driving in the rain or through puddles. Scary and expensive and dangerous. Dumped it.
