Question 2001 T&C 3.8 All Wheel Ltd...random stall

185,000 miles on it, bought over 3 years ago. Within this year, the van has started to pick up a random stall. Its starting to do it more now. I've removed the intake duct to the throttle body, and have blasted clean the throttle body and the IAC valve intake area just above the throttle body opening with carb cleaner....at least thats what I believe that crescent looking hole is.

Theres no codes. This morning, my wife started the van to warm it up. When she went out there, the van was not running anymore, but everything else was on, soo it must have stalled. She started it again and went back in, and the same thing happened. No codes! She started it for the third time, and no problem......van warmed right up!

My question is....does this seem like a fuel filter issue?

thanks again,
byran

Remove the idle control valve from the throttle body and clean the metal part that sticks into the throttle body. I used a brass wire brush to clean all the gunk off, also clean the throttle body area where the idle control valve fits in.
When last was the air filter and spark plugs and wires replaced? These may not be the main cause of the problem but could contribute to the problem.

I've replaced the plugs less then 15,000 miles ago. Wires i didn not replace. Air filter I just replaced when I did the oil change less then a 500 miles ago.

Whatcha think bout the fuel filter tho? I will change it, but too much gas in the tank right now! Are these symtoms a fuel filter will cause?

i've used almost half of a can carb cleaner spraying it down both openings, and I'm talking about a big can. you don't think that would of got the job done?

You will be surprised how much gunk is stuck to that metal part and how tough it is to get off.

A clogged fuel filter could also cause problems, replace it as well.
You have new spark plugs and air filter, that's good. Spark plug wires should also be replaced every 100k.

is there anyone here that can help?

I still get a random stall! Cleaning the IAC valve didn't fix the problem. The IAC valve works as it should.
