Default 2001 town and country lx blower motor

The blower motor went out in my town and country so I replaced it with a new one. When I put the new one in it doesn't let you control the speed. When you turn it off it blows more at your feet. So I took it back and got a different one it was still doing the same thing. So I decided to put my old one back in and it decided to work again and it let me control the speed, but it only works when the car has been heated. If it's cold it stops working and I have to put the new one in and it works just doesn't shut off. I know this is confusing, but if someone can tell me why it's doing this that would be great!

The blower motor does not control where the air flow motors do that which are separate to where the blower motor itself is. IS the aftermarket motor wired up backward?

the wires I am talking about is that plug U could have vary easily gotten a universal one that is for different cars and they may spin a different direction switch the wires around in the connector.
