Default 2001 Voyager CRD Air Con help

Hello and here goes my first post
I recently privately bought a 2001 Voyager CRD LX, and it would be fair to say the previous owner probably never heared of servicing, and expected the thing to just drive with no maintenance.
In the two weeks I have owned it I have serviced the car by way of changing the air, oil, fuel and cabin filters. I have changed both the gearbox and engine oils and replaced the MIL / Engine management bulb which hhad been removed because it was on lol ! I ran diagnostics and P1511 was displayed which I cleared and reset the light with no reocurrance as of yet.
I have given the car a thourough valet and she seems to be running OK although i intend to change the cambelt and rollers this week. Now the one other issue I have is when I turn on the Air Con nothing happens??
the orange light comes on but I cannot hear the compressor cut in. Could it be that it is low on refidgerant and thus not powering up?? as much as I know regarding mechanics I know little about Air Con. Any help would be much appreciated.

Trying to get a reply here is worse than trying to ride a pogo stick in a swamp

Yes most likely low on gas and the condensor is leaking is the most common fault.

i have the same problem, the prange light comes on but nothing happens. I did try and get it re gassed but there was or is a leak. So IF there is no gas in the condensor--does that mean the air con unit won't fire up? So if i got the leak fixed and then re gassed the aircon should then come on?>
