2001 Voyager Key Programming
I'm trying to program a new spare key for my 2001 Voyager CRD.
I have purchased a new blank transponder key (grey type same as originals) had it cut, and it works in the ignition lock perfectly.
I have both original keys & key fobs that both work fine.
Following the procedures that I read on the net, I put in the first key-turn to "on" wait 5 secs, remove key, repeat with 2nd Key.... but it never goes into program mode.
When I put in the second key, it's just like a normal start sequence.
Tried it about 5-6 times without any luck.
Any ideas ????

Get a key from any number of websites then do as above. Just have to wait to find out how to program it. As long as you have one working key, as you do, you're golden. If you didn't it's a trip to the dealership.
You mean I can buy a second hand key on ebay and after programming it will work?
Customer Key Programming
You can program new sentry keys to the system if you have two valid sentry keys by performing the following procedure:
1. Cut the additional Sentry Key Transponder blank(s) to match the ignition switch lock cylinder key code.
2. Insert the first valid key into the ignition switch and turn the ignition switch ON for at least 3 seconds but no longer than 15 seconds. Turn the ignition switch OFF and remove the first key.
3. Insert the second valid key and turn the ignition switch ON within 15 seconds. After ten seconds a chime will sound and the Theft Alarm Light will begin to flash. Turn the ignition switch OFF and remove the second key.
4. Insert a blank Sentry Key into the ignition switch and turn the ignition switch ON within 60 seconds. After 10 seconds a single chime will sound. The Theft Alarm Light will stop flashing, turn on for 3 seconds; then turn off.
The new Sentry Key has been programmed. The Keyless Entry Transmitter will also be programmed during this procedure. Repeat this procedure to program up to a total of 8 keys. If you do not have a programmed sentry key, contact your dealer for details.
NOTE: If a programmed key has been lost, see your dealer to have all remaining keys erased from the systems memory. The remaining keys must then reprogrammed. This will prevent the lost key from starting your vehicle. All vehicle keys must be taken to the dealer at the time of service to be reprogrammed.

Thanks for the info, yes I have followed that exact same procedure, see my original post.
Problem is that after inserting the 2nd key it doesn't go into program mode, ie the "security" light does not come on & it doesn't chime. so i'm stuck on step 3
As I said I have both original keys & fobs, as we've had the car from new in 2001.
The replacement key is the correct transponder RFID type and has been cut correctly & works in the locks (although I haven't got that far yet)

I'm looking at this at the moment, and I'm wondering [just clutching straws] why it works for some and not others. At this point I'm wondering if the default Country [software] code will allow specific customer programming options, while disbarring others by invoking a Country code. For example one workaround would be to deliberately put the wrong Country code in - do the customer programming you were previously denied - then switch back to the correct Country code. If I find anything I'll get back to you.
Ok thanks... yes it seems a bit strange, I looked at a few sites for re-programming Chrysler RFID keys and they described the same procedure, there are also a few video's on you tube.
I must say all the ones I saw were from USA, and actually the UK voyager does not have the same "chime" that the US model has
I'm guessing that the flashing lights needs to be the one that comes on, then goes off if the correct key is inserted & flashes if the wrong key is inserted ? ie the immobiliser LED ??
How can you re-code the country ???
