Default 2004 T&C 6 Disk DVD Error - Flashing LEDS

I have a 2004 T&C. Had the battery disconnected to replace an O2 sensor. The shop guy also said to short short the battery terminals to make sure the code got reset. After connecting the battery back up and driving the car, the DVD went into an error state. It goes through the disk search routine and then alternately flashes the 3 left and then the 3 right leds. I have seen may other posts around the net describing this problem of having the DVD changer go into this error state after replacing a dead battery, but no one returns to provide an answer. I am hoping someone here can has a solution other than replacing the unit.

I've never been able to bring one of those back from the dead. IMO they're junk. Sorry....

What actually fails in the unit when the voltage is taken to 0 and then is reconnected? Is there a manual that lists the error modes of the unit? ie what the flashing led patterns mean.
