2008 Town & Country Transmission Shifting Problem
My 2008 Town and Country Touring has started having a particular transmission problem.
After I back out of my driveway, I put it into drive. It acts like it is stuck in the wrong gear possibly 2nd or 3rd. When you try to accelerate from stop it is sluggish. When try to reach a cruising speed the tachometer will stay at 3000+ rpms at approximately 35 MPH and will surge 4000+ rpms when you touch the accelerator. The RMS will not "settle" at cruising speed.
I tried to switch to manual shift mode to see what gear I was in and/or see if I can manually change gears. It will not go into manual mode.
If I pull over, stop and restart the car, the transmission seems to preform properly afterward. With subsequent driving during the day the problem does not seem to return. It appears to be something that shows up when the car is "cold".
Has anyone experienced this? is this a computer problem or a mechanical problem with the transmission?

If using the vehicle for police, taxi, fleet or frequent towing it's 60,000 miles or 5 years.
