I just replaced my good air filter with a KN Air Filter (was on sale and good for lifetime). Now the Check Engine light is lit. No other changes were made other that the KN Filter. I removed the positive cable for 10 seconds and it cleared the light, but Im afraid it will just come back. Does anyone else have a KN air filter on their vehicle? Did you get the same results? Thanks!!

 

NOT possible for the filter itself to cause a CEL. You would have done better to find out the CODE that triggered the CEL for a better way to find out what happened.More than likely you disturbed a sensor connection when you changed the filter.

 

wasnt near an auto part store to check the CEL, i know i should have, but will be out tomorrow and it it pops back up, i for sure will go.
