6 dvd player compatibility and questions
JM.. yes.. nothing worked with locks.. had to put the key in the door or pull the lock pins by hand. 1st time it happened, I was out of town. I had the wife pop the hood , pull the fuse cover and I told her to start looking for IOD (Ignition off draw) fuse. Had her pull it, she told me about her day, then she put it back in and all was fine.
I am going to guess that at least the early single disks (up to 04) were not IR or even headphone compatible. If you look at the email I sent you and compare the 2003 and 2006 12 and 16's, you will see no IR transmit enable ( or headphone sense in some literature ) and audio left, right and ground on the 3,4,10,11 pins of the 12 way. If you look at the more expensive LKQ single disk (the one for 03,04) and zoom in on the Pinouts on top of that player (it is pretty blurry). What you can do it use my pinout locations from my 05 , and you can see where 1 starts (which row/column) in each row for each plug 16/12 an you will see what is missing on the blurry single disc picture from LKQ. No headphone stuff on that one.

So my point is that if you go single disk, you might lose the headphone capability.
Not sure why Chrysler did that.. (no screen but installed DVD changers) but the pacifica was in the same boat. No screens and people would buy the wrong one because they did not know about the IR/RF thing. If they did, the people selling the stuff did not know what the difference was and would say a system was IF when ti was really RF. This is how I learned, by reading all these problems. We got the van from my uncle so after I got it and it needed the screen, I knew exactly what to do.
here is my screen install.. I have the rails too.. I like that system

Hope I have not confused you. I just want you to have all the best information so you can make the best decisions for your scenario.

My pin-out is the same as yours and I did notice the missing stuff with the single disc player on ebay.
Guess I'll have to fork over the $$ or due without. I only cart around a 15 yo any more so it's less of an issue. Just gets on my nerves that it dosen't work.
If I come across anything I'll be sure to post.
BTW, what about the pin-out on the Pacifica version, just a simple switcheroo with the pins/wires and face plate bezel or do you think there might be more too it than that??
How about this one:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/04-08...item2c54b996e4
If you look closely at the pin diagram it is the same as ours, as far as I can tell all I'd have to do is swap the front bezel with mine.

I compared my 12 and 16 to that Pacifica one at LKQ (p/n 5094031AC) and the Pins are exact for 12 and 16. The image is a little blurry but it looks exact to me. If the faceplates are swappable, you should be in. Unfortunately you won't know about the faces until you get one? I think we looked at a different pacifica one for you back on post 23 and said it was different but this one looks like it is wired exact.
My 05 changer is P/N P05094033AA The Pacfica one is P05094031AC
Are you finding the Pacifca one cheaper because this one you listed is $250????

....also thanks for the tip on the IOD fuse. Power locks went out yesterday, tonight I pulled the fuse, waited 5 and plugged it back in. Locks were back
. It seems to happen most when it's hot out and the van is in the sun for a bit. Hard to avoid here in Phoenix but I keep it garaged as much as possible.

Glad that worked for you.. you might want to call Mitsubishi Electronics America (they make the CD/DVD players) and they should be able to tell you if the changers front faces are interchangeable. This gal helped me with other questions years back.

I have read all of your posts, very interesting. Seems we have the exact same problem. I have had to repair the driver's side slider 2x now for not working auto, now it needs to be fixed for the third time.
But, the DVD 6 disc changer is the problem I need help with. I took it out and was able to remove the disc, one of the round/gold moving arms was jammed so I was to get it put back to what I think is the correct spot. Of course, I put it in and still the blinking 3 lights sequence. Does this changer need to have a "code" pushed in? I called several dealers, one was $274 for an exchange up to $545. Way too expensive but trying to keep wife/kids happy.
I am leary of buying a used one for fear it will have the same issues. I looked for MrCD1 on ebay, seems his acct is closed. I got in touch with a AJ at Midwest Dist and he can ship one for $250, but it sounds a bit shady.
Can a single disc player be put in? Are there places that can just repair it? What have you decided to do?

OK, so I took the plunge and got a pacifica one off ebay. The guy had bought the car, a 2007, to part out. Got it for ~ $150 shipped.
The face plates are swappable, I put mine off the Town and Country on and it worked fine. In fact I could not tell the units apart without the faceplate except the PN.
So if you have a mini van and the in-dash 6-DVD player quits, it CAN be replaced by one out of a Pacifica. I don't know why there are so many more of them on ebay but there you go.
PS - the single disk unit will not work, the pin-out is not the same. can't even get creative with the wiring as some important ones are missing. Repair is also a no go. Just pick one up on ebay and look for the newest revision AA-AF. Go to motors/parts and type "chrysler DVD" in the search box, you may have to sift through some but you will find what your looking for.

The P05094031/3 is the part #, the AA or AC is the revision #. I think it goes up to AF.
All others; the P05094031AA is for the IR audio signal to the headphones, the player with P04685908AE is for the RF audio signal to the headphones,
they are not compatible.

Hi
I have just bought a Grand Voyager - it came with a 6 cd/dvd changer and a overhead dvd display and remote. it has a sat nav and radio. There was no radio code or headphones unfortunately.
so i have a couple of questions:
1. Does the faceplate remove for security?
2. How do I find out what model of dvd I have?
3. How do I know what headphones are compatible?
I am in the UK - not sure if that makes a difference
Thanks in advance
