Default 97 Voyager r/wipe, wash, demist & a/c fail

Hi, I've had a quick trawl of previous posts but can't see exactly the same problem;

Vehicle is a 1997 2.0 UK Voyager, and the rear wipe, rear wash, rear demist, recirculate, aircon and vent/flaps control have all stopped working. Only hot air comes out of the vents and the blower works ok.
I've tried the "system reset" button pressing referred to elsewhere but none of the button LEDs light.
I figure the problem is with the BCM but could do with some more direction before I start pulling relays etc out, and don't have access to any diagnostic tools at the moment.
Many thanks in advance, Paul

Hi Paul
First I would remove the panel as it's on 4 screws and check the 21 pin plug for melting

Thanks Merlin, I'll delve into the dash tonight when I get home. The manual refers to a special trim tool, but this looks like a thin blade/file to me? The trim above the ashtray is not on properly so I figure that someone's been in there before, probably when the handsfree kit was fitted....

Thumbs up

Good call Merlin. It was the black/green wire in the connector that had melted the plug. I managed to realign the pins and replace everything and after running the diagnostics on the HVAC system all is fine again (for now!)

Top man - I'll come back here again if we get more problems

Thanks, Paul

Hi, me again.

Does anyone know where I can get a replacement 21-way plug for console? RS, Maplin?

The problem has come back and the original plug has got so distorted that it doesn't make good contact which causes the connectors to get hot which makes the plug distort....you get the picture!

Thanks in advance

Paul
