AA or RAC Vehicle Inspection...? HELP...
Well after speaking to the dealers daughter and agreeing that an inspection was fine, I booked and paid for it with the AA. Only to get an email from the AA hours later to say the dealer himself had rang to cancel it as he had sold the car to someone else.
The equally cynical amongst you will no doubt think what I did, but hey ho, forwards and onwards.
I have now found a newer one with less miles which I am hoping to tie up a deal on tomorrow. It's from a Major Car dealership Group as well, so hoping no skullduggery goes on...
As they have a no quibble 30 days money back gaurantee I don't think I'll panic too much about the AA inspection this time

Raptor 07, I think you may be getting confused. The AA inspection (or RAC inspection) is a service provided by the Automobile Association or the Royal Automobile Club whereby they will carry out an independant inspection of a used vehicle before you buy it so that you may be aware of any possible faults. Those associations, and others, provide a national breakdown/recovery service for an annual fee.
The round stickers you mentioned were probably road fund licence or tax discs that we in the UK have to buy and renew every 6 or 12 months before we can use a vehicle on the road. Before you can get a tax disc you need to have a current MOT certificate (Ministry Of Transport) and insurance for the vehicle.
The MOT test is an annual test which is carried out by authorised garages to all vehicles, 3 years and older, to prove the road worthiness of the vehicle.

Merlecollins -- of course you believed the dealer when he told you he'd sold it to someone else? Keep an eye on it; if it turns out it wasn't sold at all, a pro. inspection would have revealed something seriously wrong with it, probably illegal. Hope you didn't lose the inspection fee.

So you're well off out of it.
I don't know which are worse, second-hand car dealers or estate agents. One would suppose the latter, but only because the amount of money is ten to twenty times more.
Quod erat desperandum.
