Default adjust hand brake

Could someone please let me know how to adjust the hand brake on a 1997 voyager as it is not holding the vehicle when on a hill it is mainly the gearbox that is holding the vehicle still.
Thanks Bassy

Hi, hopefully this will help as i had to do the same.

1: you have to take the centre console off around the handrake.
2: looking at it makes you think it's not adjustable but it is.
3: there is a white plastic clip just to the right of the handrake, this plastic clip stops the cable moving, remove the plastic clip.
unfortunatly i cant remember what else we had to do, but you should be able to see once you have removed the plastic white clip what you need to do...

Just bear in mind this effects the rear brake drum's while driving too. so dont adjust them to tight... 3-5 click should be fine.

hope this helps..

Paul, Sorry if this sounds dumb, but do you take the clip off, pull up and return the brake to take out the slack, and put the clip back? Or does the clip stay off?

The clip is on there for a reason it was a recall to fit this clip. I suggest you inspect the rear brakes first and leave the clip alone.
