Default Advice Needed

Hi guys, hope everyone had a good xmas and new year. Just some advice needed really for a friend of mine. He owns a 2005 GV 2.8 CRD like mine and has recently had a new flex plate installed. Obviously this is a gearbox out job. The garage have done a marvelous job and it's running lovely... the only thing I noticed on his invoice is a £45 charge for an antifreeze flush. Obviously the cooling system has been drained and re filled. Is draining the cooling system part of taking the auto gearbox out or have they just done this to make extra cash.... any advice would be great. Thanks guys

£45 for HOAT antifreeze is reasonable. If a change is due, the garage has acted properly -- leaving the old exhausted stuff in situ will result in a damaged rad. that will not flush (aluminium). A new rad. is heavy money.

I know that Leedsman. what i am saying is they did it as part of the gearbox job. the customer did not ask for a coolant change. what I am asking is is this part of the gearbox job. do you have to drain the coolant to remove the gearbox?
