Default alarm and a/c

I havea fewquestions about a 98 T&C. First, can the factoryalarm be disabled without messing anything else up? Does it have any kind of starter or fuel kill on it? Can I just disconnect the speaker? There is a red button on the drivers side kick panel. Is this something to do with the alarm?

factory alarms dont have any red buttons on any kick panel. I would say u have an after market one. U can look under the dash and see if it looks like some stuff has been added like a black box hanging from some where and wired spliced into the IGN switch. If u dont see any and u would like me to run your vin from chrysler i can see from the factory what all u have build onto your van when it was new.

I had forgot that I had the VIN ran. It doesnt list the alarm as std or opt. equipment. The button under the dash is black, not red. I assumed it was a factory alarm because it uses the Chrysler key fob to turn it off. If you lock the doors before you shut them it goes off as soon as the door closes. You have to hit unlock to get it to shut off ( if your lucky it shuts off in the first few times you hit it)!

u more then likely have an add on alarm system from chrysler if the remotes say chrysler on it. If thats the case the key fobs should be pure black and white buttons if i remember right. Chrysler alarms will tie into the IGN wiring killing the starter or the ASD feed which ever the install manual says to do so. From the sound of it the sensitivity it up to high , u can adj it buy finding the black box that things are pluged into and on it there is a little dial u can move.
