George, Thanks for the information. Since I bought my van used just a couple months ago with 63K on it, I haven't noted any bearing problems or noises. I had new tires on it however, and it's an OHIO car according to CarFax reports. The original owner warranty has since expired and I am probably without the extended coverage as mentioned. I'm in Ohio which I consider a cold driving climate but I don't understand what the climate really has to do with bearing failure! Thanks again for the heads up.

 

I am still having this issue , plan on using 3M universal fuel injector cleaning kit next week....does the 2008 Chrysler 4.0 engine have a mass air flow sensor?

 

No it has a MAP sensor (manifold absolute pressure sensor), it performs a similar function as a MAF sensor.

Update....I have not cleaned the fuel injectors because the vehicle does not have a fitting on the fuel rail to hook up the 3M universal kit...but I did add the 3M gas additive that came with the injector kit before going on a round trip to Texas, and highway mileage began at 17.5/18 and 900 miles later was 24..with the best being 24.9 mpg...this with a loaded vehicle, running the a/c and a speed of 70/75 mph. I installed new tires before the trip.. and installed 235/65/17 instead of 225/65/17....which helps prevent scrubbing the lower air dam when parking.

 

I'd say with that trip, loaded, aircon on, that speed , and mpgUS near 25, youve got it right. If you cut your speed to 55/60mph., even better results could be attained. Looks like it was the penultimate cause on my list, and shows up the fact that errorcodes in a microprocessor don't always accurately predict fault causes; nonetheless they can be useful if used in conjunction with human experience.
(Or of course the absence of errorcodes...)
