Blinking Air Condition and Vent controls
98 Town and County. Does anyone know what equipment is needed to reset the blinking A/C and Vent controls? This started when the battery had to be changed. Everything works its just that these lights on those buttons blink like a new VCR for the first 15 - 20 min of driving before they stop blinking. Then as soon as you turn off the key and restart the vehicle it starts all over again. The dealer wants $40.00 for something to me is a defect in the design. Nobody should have to spend an additional $40.00 after spending the money to replace the battery. Those settings should have been designed to be saved in non-volatile memory instead of volatile memory. Thats just retarded.[sm=headbang.gif]
I had the same problem, until I luckily ran met an ex Chrysler service manager at our local Auto A/C shop. On the left side of the panel, there are three buttons related to wipers, etc. Press and hold the top and bottom one for about 5 seconds. This resets the chip that governs that panel. You might have to do this about 5 or 6 times before they all stop blinking. You'll see different sequences of blinks. Wait about 3 minutes after each time that you reset by pushing the two buttons. It worked for me twice after the battery had to be pulled. Good luck!
It worked Thank You!!!. Had to play with it a while to figure out what it was doing but eventually got it to work. The time between sequences seems to be waiting for the ducts to go through a cycle. When they returned to the original set positon the blinking light sequence would change to a different sequence. Thats when I would press the two reset buttons again for the next step.
