brake knock
Good Afternoon Everyone,
I'm having some trouble with my 2004 Chrysler Town and Country's brakes. Driver rear, to be exact. When braking at slower speeds, the rear brakes make a rhythmic 'knocking' sound. The knocks slow down as the vehicle slows down until it is completely stopped. Any ideas what might cause this? The knocking sounds like it corresponds with the wheel revolutions. One click per turn.
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
Eric

Your going to have to take your wheel off for this, check wheel bolt were tight in this operation. Then its a caliper strip down I'm afraid to find fault. The braking material on the brake pad may be adrift.
If not this, remove top hat disc and check brake shoe retainers. If one has pulled out of the back plate it will make a knocking noise as it gets temporarily trapped between drum and shoe.
