Question burning smell from 2003 voyager - help!!!

Hi there, I hope someone can help as I feel I have tried everything! I have a 2003 Voyager 2.5 crd. I have a burning smell coming from the passenger side back wheel - sometimes there is white smoke too!

I have so far replaced the brake caliper, replaced the hoses and loosened off the handbrake shoes but it is still hapening.

My mechanic thinks we now need to replace the ABS control unit but as this is a very expensive part I was wondering if anyone else had had this problem or any other suggestions as to what it could be!

Thanks in advance.
D

rear wheel providing its not an awd u have,is basicly a free wheeling wheel

only thing that should generate burning smell is the brakes.

any grease contamination on the discs pads?

raise the wheel with handbrake of and see if it free wheels,no binding.

possible disc is warped to,if it has got extremely hot.

i changed my rear brakes on my voyager,i had to push the pistons right out, peel the seal back and gently scuff the piston with some 240 paper, put the seal back on then push piston home, without the scuff on the piston it was not releasing when fully pushed back, but the scuff both sides fixed the problem.

if vehicle is stationary ,and smelling of burning, smoke without use of brakes, then u have broken wire issue and shouldnt be to hard to find, wait till it slightly darkish and see if u can see it arking, sparking.
