Default cd changer

I just got a new cd changer for my 98 voyager. I wired it up and the changer seems to be ok-it loads a disc when the magazine is inserted- but when i press cd on the radio control it displays"no disc". any ideas what may be wrong?

The changer should be right as they used the vin to identify it. For the instalation I just pluged the lead with the round 8 pin plug into the back of the radio. Is there more to it than that?

No just double checked. it says to have the label facing up.The radio works fine and the cassette player. Is it likely the radio is at fault or the lead from the changer to the radio? Thanks for the replies
