Question Charging Problem?

Question if you disconnect the neg. terminal on the battery while the engine is running and the engine stays running does that tell you that the altinator is good?

Thanks

No....

Unfortunately ..that neat little trick hasnt been successfully conclusive since 1962, and also runs the risk of popping a diode in the regulator assembly of your PCM....

A 10 $ "Walmart special" multimeter will do the job, without damaging anything...

2 things are possible with the pull the cable trick.....1) the engine stalls...because you "Ungrounded " the PCM.....or 2...It keeps running, and builds up a dangerous amount of current, with no place to discharge it.....Either way...you have not "Proven" anything, and possibly irreparably hurt it in the process.
