Default check engine light keeps coming on but no codes

Hi to all
I have just brought a 2005 Chrysler Grand Voyager stow n go 3.3 V6 petrol automatic it is the Limited XS.
My trouble is the "check engine" light keeps coming on while driving, and every time I connect my code reader to it, NO codes are found, even though no codes are found I go to clear the codes and alls fine for a while, then it pops on again, does any one now why? and how to fix it?
Thanks
Jason

Is the light on when reading the codes? Any pending codes? EGR problems have been known to turn CE lights on an off as they fail and reset but it could be any number of other systems. Any symptoms beyond the light?

Just to expand a bit on Raptors answer......

2 things come to mind.....If your code reader has an "Starts since clear" display, make sure after you clear the codes, the start counter actually registers the starts. if not, you may be missing a battery feed to PCM , or Pcm is failing.

Many universal code readers , only read OBD 2 "Emissions" codes. Its possible, that you are setting a Non Emission code, and the reader is not capable of interpreting it.

Any solenoid which uses PCM as a power source, can "Drop The Buss" intermitently and cause your symptom, as well as no start, Dead cluster, ...etc, without actually setting a code of their own.

Hi to all, I have tried 3 code readers on it and nothing, so I tried the turn key switch on and off 3 times in 5 secs and it showed up on my dash code P0403 EGR valve, then as I looked at the paper work a brand new EGR valve was fitted 3 months ago! So I take it I need to check the wiring when the snow stops here in the UK.
Thank You for all of your help
Jason

Jason,

You mentioned that you have 3 code readers. If any of these are Innova readers, I recommend trying this test with the engine of the Chrysler running in idle. The reason why I suggest this with the Innova tool is due to the fact that our tool uses a different method of receiving and communicating with your Chrysler and it may function better with the engine running.

I hope this method works out for you and hopefully you can get it diagnosed and fixed soon.
