Hi,

Have you done a proper test (Fuel Light / Trip reset / 45.4 L / Fuel Light)...?

How much time does the engine-heater run for?

Does the engine run cold?

Sorry, don't know any places in London, but I think there is a specialist who gets good reviews near Dartford (but no clue as to name or contact).

What kind of drives do you do with the Voyager? Short city only runs can easily amount to 18 l/100 km. I have a GV 2007, 2.8 diesel and on the freeway (110 km/h) and trips 130 km (1.5 hours), it drinks 9.2 l/100 km or so, but in the city and cold weather, I'd say it's more like 11-13 l/100 km. 18 l/100 km is very high, though. Any exhaust smoke, starting issues or poor performance?

I'm not bragging (ok, I am really) but mine has done 36.4mpgUK on a recent journey. 2.8 VM diesel plus autobox. It has never done less than 25mpgUK on the worst possible conditions.
These cars can really shift away from the lights, if yours seems sluggish check for binding handbrake shoes. A very 'popular' problem.
Poorly inflated tyres, should be 42PSI front 35PSI rear.
Engine running far too cool. Temp. guage should be at least halfway.
If it's a recent acquisition, check service records, see previous owner if poss.
Check it's really only doing 16mpgUK. by doing a full tank to full tank against miles covered. Don't always rely on the computer's figure!
Remember London is the worst possible place for fuel economy. Jeremy Clarkson said on tv his petrol Range Rover did 9mpgUK in London traffic. GVs weigh 2.4tonsUS. and are actually bigger than a Range Rover. That's all folks.

...
36.4 MPG = 7.8 Litres/100km , wow!
I'll have to race you on that one! I don't think it's even possible with my 2007 2.8 CRD with auto transmission (should be very much like yours apart from the more advanced EGR I think). With the old 2003 2.5 manual GV I did 6 l/100 km on one trip where I purpously never exceeded 100 km/h and always adhered to speed limits. That trip was also done a night with absolutely no traffic so I could go at my own pace Halmstad to Karlstad and back, almost 800 km round trip. The manual 2.5 is a lot less thirsty than the 2.8 auto, but not available after 2003 I think?

Your worst case of 25 mpg = 11.3 l/100km, which sounds about right for heavy city traffic. With my mixed driving, the computer often says 9.6 l/100 km after a fair amount of trips, and the computer is always very optimistic...
