Default chrysler grand voyager timing belt too short

im working on a grand voyager 2002 2.5 crd it had a snapped cambelt
ive done all the work all i now need to do is fit the new belt

BUT it seems to be to short

i know its the right belt ive double cheaked the part numbers and its fine

it just doesnt seem to be long enough to fit over the tensioner

the belt is tight all the way round all the pullys and cams sprockets

ive got the tensioner as loose as it can be but still no joy

does anyone know what could be the problem as this is the last job to do on the car

I couldn't get the belt on the tensioner when I changed my belt a few months ago.

I just took the tensioner off the engine, positioned the belt and reinstalled the tensioner. Removing an idler pully would work just as well.

Once the balt is over the tensioner, there is only a little bit of slack, so no wonder it's difficult to put on.

There's probably a technique to do it without removing pullys/tensioner's, but as you're supposed to replace the idler pullys anyway, it's no hardship.
